The new documentary movie the Shadow Effect created by Debbie Ford and starring bestselling authors Deepak Chopra and Marianne Williamson, explores our dark side.

The movie makes it easier to talk open up to ourselves and each other about our dark parts.  When old angers resurface, what do you do with it? When you feel rageful about daily events where do you transfer that energy? The violent or ugly thoughts that make you go: "Where did that just come from?"  When that comes up,  I listen to myself closely.  I allow myself the five seconds to really feel the horrible.emotion that I might have otherwise brushed aside as another thought or feeling.  More importantly, is not beating ourselves up for the thoughts that come up into our minds.  They are just like any other thought that nonchalantly creeps up into our space.  It is up to us what we will do with them.

There is an effective ancient Hawaiian phrase to repeat whenever a lack of faith, sadness or darkness enters our mind.  It is a ancient Hawaiian healing prayer that works effectively.  This  Hawaiian shamanic method is called  Ho' pono' pono', where one would say to the Divine: (For this thought I am thinking or this emotion I am feeling) "I'm sorry,  please forgive me,  Thank you, I love you".  It is in the repetition of this mantra that the healing takes place.

Paying attention to these destructive thoughts that you aim at yourself or the world and then seek to bring healing it to it.  Have compassion for yourself for at the end of the day you are still human even though you are divine.  And have compassion for the situation or person you are having these thoughts about.  Therefore, we neither suppress nor ignore our feelings.  They are there for us to use as tools to learn about the dark parts of ourselves. This is an important process to teach children so they learn how to deal with anger and hard emotions.  Being able to have the tools to process our lives and have a deeper understanding and compassion for ourselves.

I hope you join us at our Parent Child Retreat on June 18, where we will give parents and youth similar methods to bring joy and healing to their relationships.

Can you relate?

I pick up my boys from their Mother's home and they hop in the van, drop their things all over the vehicle and (with the precision and speed of fighter pilots) swiftly and adroitly tap something into their ipod's, PSP's or cell phones.  Once again, my boys are lost in the world of digital blips and bleeps.

Sometimes it makes me wonder if humanity will evolve into the cyborg-like hybrids known as "the Borg" in the T.V. Star Trek shows where electronic gadgetry melds into their very flesh.

And I really wonder what it does to my relationship with them.  It is bad enough that we live in a world of "new blended families" where I only see them a few times a week at best, but to have that time conscripted by little lighted boxes...

Oh I hear what you are saying, "well, just tell them to put it down!", as if it were just that easy.  You see I'm a Dad, and a guy.  And Dad's like gadgets too!  And guy's especially like to play with gadgets when they need to unwind and shut out the world.  Like after a long day at work..or, for them, two pre-adolescent brains overtaxed by the "non-holistic" demands of the modern day school systems....

Well, after they have been in school all day, I get the attraction and the function of needing to shut out the outside stimulus and focus on something totally and completely distracting (and otherwise, meaningless).  It's a guy thing, and it's akin to the caveman hiding out in his cave until he felt like he could come and sit around the fire again.

Most women find this very confusing and puzzling, but guys need to be quiet and alone in order to regain their energy, whereas women, need to talk and be social.  Quite the trick the Creator pulled there eh?

So what's a Dad to do?

"Counter attack the status quo when you can" is my motto.  That is, I don't think fighting the battle when they are too tired to pay attention helps...and since I too, am rather worn from a day at the office...well, I allow the blips and bleeps to exist as part of the mix.  But then, just when they least expect it (well not really but that sounds more dramatic)...I take them to one of my holistic activities.

I am a new age spiritual kind of guy.  (No, not a modern-day-hippie-wearing-flowered-pattern-shirts-and-beads-dude, but I feel very strongly that the world they grow up in is out of balance).  I make an effort to buck the trend and introduce them to alternative world views if I can.  A few years ago when my youngest boy was about 6, I had him and his older brother do a shamanic ceremony to welcome in the new year.  Complete with a holy man from Ecuador, smoke and chanting, they were quite intrigued.  My youngest saw some visions even.

The modern world of electronics and shopping malls would hide these things from them.  I believe it helps them to open their hearts, and not just walk in a world of mental stimulation and constant distractions.  There was a simpler way of life just a few short 100 years ago in our culture, and it is my hope that I can awaken that kind of world in them.  Though for certain, most of their Dad's friends from class would find such things very strange.

The Best Father's Day Gift Ever

This June I am offering them a wonderful weekend retreat event for kids to connect to themselves and their parents that will have many opportunities to tap into intuition and self-balance.  It might even include a group mediation and some inspired words channeled from a woman who shares the messages of the angels (Sheryl Blumenthal of www.LittleOne.us).  You can't get more holistic and "new-agey" than that.  The thing is, it really is undeniable that it melts your heart just to be in the same room with inspired individuals as they share their gifts (and the gifts of spirit) with the audience.

And that is a message I really want my boys to be exposed to: that each of us has a unique and specific talent, and that talent, no matter what it is, is there to be shared with one other, to uplift and inspire one other from the heart - to being better and more whole than we were before we came together.  That's "holistic" for me.

If you live near New Your City, Philadelphia, New Jersey or Delaware, maybe you want to join in and attend this event too.  For Dad's like me, it can be just the Father's Day gift I am looking forward to enjoying most! (Go to www.QuaternityInstitute.com/parentchild-retreat.html for details).

In the meantime, if you too have boys, don't let the blips and bleeps take over your kids lives...but don't try and shut them out entirely either.

Barack Obama takes the oath of office on Inauguration Day.  Have you ever considered what that word means exactly?  According to Merriam Webster's etymology of the word dating to 1606, it means: Latin inauguratus, past participle of inaugurare, literally, to practice augury, from in- + augurare to augur; from the rites connected with augury.  Augury means "divination from auspices or omens" dating from the 14th century.  And Omen means nothing more than "an occurrence or phenomenon believed to portend a future event".

Simply put, the inauguration is the occurrence of the event leading up to the "future state" of a new individual being president (I guess technically the inauguration ends after President Obama takes the oath of office). But it is interesting that the roots of the term have to do with "portents", "divination" and "omens" of future events, and interesting that the very word we use in modern society to usher in the Highest Office of the Land, has strong connections and connotations to practices of the occult and alchemy.

In fact, there are those who feel the usage of such words (by those who know the full potential of the power and meaning of words) is beyond being just interesting but entirely intended and appropriate for the purposes to which they aspire or act towards.

The question that comes to mind is "What ARE those intended actions (EVENTS)?"

President Obama rallied a demoralized nation that collectively felt as if hope for a better future was fast slipping through their fingers.  At the same time, the prior established polarization of those who react in fear continued such that the sales of guns, in an economic time of consumers cutting back, actually increased after Mr. Obama won the election.  (Sales apparently fueled by those who fear our civil liberties will be further eroded; that the buying of semi-assault weapons and handguns will be restricted or eliminated.  Note: I am not taking a position here, only noting that the polarization fueled over the past many years, continues.)

Our "One Nation under God" has long been led by leaders that do indeed have a very specific intention and design for how they will rule and govern.  As it turns out (with the more accurate vision of 20/20 hindsight), such intentions have not always corresponded to what you and I, as ordinary benign citizens, would have interpreted as supporting "the best and highest goodwill of all involved".

Again, I am not waxing political here, nor taking sides.  Or more accurately, I am taking YOUR and MY side.  Their are many individuals who actively became engaged in the process of this election for the specific purpose of supporting the energies of HOPE and CHANGE.  I would go on to say that the change desired was a change for " the better" versus what they had experienced under the prior President Bush's governing.  It stands to reason that they were voting for the "better something".

I leave it up to you (just as President Obama and his team did) to interpret for yourself the exact definition of those words and what actions they will lead (create/manifest) into being.  These words I write are intended to get you to really think about, define and then "occultly and alchemically" advance the manifestation of the intention and purpose of your words into reality.  Because if you leave it as a blank, then you allow the knowledge of how all this really works to others who already know.  Create your own omen my friends, continue to be a co-creator of your destiny.

For myself, do you know the title of the 1984 Tina Turner hit song, "What's Love Got To Do With It?"  Just like the augury of President Obama looks toward the future, this line from the past is also of great "portent" in that it holds the answer to the HOPE and CHANGE I personally seek.  For me, no collective of humanity, as defined as a united group of individual states, or a united group of individual countries, or a united group of individuals, can exist without holding some common central truths to be self evident.   Are there multiple truths?  Yes, but some are more universal than others.

Is LOVE a central truth of yours?  If it is, I would ask you to begin (or continue, if you have already begun), to co-create that LOVE by actively (and daily - this is very important at this time in our collective destiny -  to do so daily, everyday) by praying, meditating or just actively imagining a life conducted IN and OF LOVE- where there is a drastic increase in the POWER of that LOVE in your life and in the lives of all others.  (By the way, just "hoping" it will happen is not the same as placing your intent and actions into making it happen...)

President Obama did not define what he meant by "change" specifically, because to do so would limit the power of the words to just what he said, to his vision only.  Take a cue from him, and do not place judgements and "should, could, woulds" onto how you define that LOVE.  Allow it to be pure, from your heart to the collective heart of humanity in unity "for the highest good and most loving outcome of all".  Putting it out there to the universe that you give love to your ex, your boss, or your political leaders, and including the energy of "that they wake up and understand what I am saying" has more to do with manifesting your own good rather than the good of all involved.  And isn't adding that personal energy kind of what we can see has gotten us deep in our current economic and political situations?  Instead, try something new...release your attachment to the outcome as an exact prescription.

Use your personal energy to CREATE THE ENERGY OF CHANGE, in LOVE, not in personal prescriptions for what love should be, but in personal UNITY (that is that you are declaring you desire to bring in, to create, a world where LOVE of your fellow man DOES matter, where you believe "how can more love be a bad thing?", where you support and place your individuated spark of the Divine in collective unity for the highest good of all.  There is a difference and you can make it.

The "omens" of our future are not at all secured.  Adding your personal, individual sovereign to this common vision is indeed a great collective power.  As a way to declare your commitment to make this a truth for you (and as a reality for many), add your first name and comment in the link below to show you join together with all of us who declare the same.  (Doing so solidifies your intention to have your personal declaration join up with the personal declaration of another person and collectively to unite them together as ONE energy.)

" I Declare My Intention to Bring the Power of Love into My Life and the Lives of ALL others for the Highest Good of ALL. " (And remember to reaffirm this TRUTH everyday, in your conscious individual sovereign power.)

At a time when we are bombarded with feelings of "recession depression", I see even more how important the Quaternity Institute will be in raising people's frequency.

A priceless lesson I have learned, and one that the Quaternity Institute will continually teach is:  We are responsible for the way we allow ourselves to feel about a situation.

Why is this priceless?  As Eckhart Tolle, best-selling author of A New Earth, explains, "any negative emotion that is not fully faced and seen for what it is in the moment it arises does not completely dissolve. It leaves behind a remnant of pain."

What is coming up for you as you are hearing of this economic collapse?  It is natural for us to feel fear because we care for our survival.  After acknowledging this fear what do we then choose to feel?  Do we allow the fear to take hold of us, filling us with worry and dread? More importantly, have you decided if the universe is a hurtful or a friendly place yet?

When you hold the faith that it is a friendly place, that nothing is out of order and all is taken care of, you can bring yourself back to a place of peace.  Karen Bishop wrote a mantra we can all repeat to ourselves when the fear arises:  In hard times, there is always money available.  In this way we are responsible and empowered with what we allow ourselves to feel.  We do not become the emotional yo-yo of the latest political news or life situation.  We reclaim our energy to be able to take care of the present moment.

I am very excited about our November 1st fundraiser party.  Over a sit down dinner, entertainment and drinks we will gather to talk about creating the New Community.    Exceptional speakers will be able to reach the hearts and minds of the audience and spark a conversation we have all craved.  What will this New Community look like and how can we start it?  We will leave feeling energized and inspired to create the New Community we have dreamed of and maintain relationships to manifest our dream. I hope you join us by registering under Upcoming Events on QuaternityInstitute.com !

One,
Gigi
